Twitter has permanently banned Alex Jones and Infowars

He livestreamed a news conference on his Twitter account, which has been restored after a weeklong suspension last month. Twitter says Jones posted a video on Wednesday that is in violation of the company's policy against "abusive behavior".

Deplatformed Infowars host Alex Jones and the Senate's most milquetoast Senator, Marco Rubio, got into it today after Jones confronted Rubio in front of the press. And this week, Twitter was further embarrassed by allegations Dorsey himself had intervened to prevent Jones from being banned, a charge Dorsey denies.

Jones has railed against the bans, claiming tech companies are censoring him. "The Democrats are doing what you said China does", Jones said.

"That's why you didn't get elected". Martin Heinrich used one of Jones' debunked conspiracy theories as an example in questioning Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. At the time, CEO Jack Dorsey said that Jones hadn't violated Twitter's policies but that the company would continue to monitor him and take action if he did so.

Twitter had previously suspended the TV and radio host for a week.

Jones heckled Darcy in a Capitol Hill hallway where reporters were waiting to enter the House committee room.

As Jones protested that Rubio knew who he was, he briefly placed his hand on the senator's shoulder.

Jones says the "real election meddling" is the silencing of conservatives on social media, "just like Communist China".

"I just patted you nicely", responded Jones, adding "I don't wanna get arrested".

After the confrontation with Rubio, Jones continued to taunt the senator as he walked back to the committee hearing. "I'll take care of you myself".

Jones, clearly relishing the successful provocation, said: "He'll beat me up!"

Rubio called Jones a "dumbass" and tried to laugh off his interruption.

Rubio was speaking to reporters Wednesday when Jones approached him and began asking questions.

"Oh, you want me arrested?"

Twitter has a long way to go before it's a safe platform for people to use, but this is a step in the right direction.

Ortutay reported from NY.

Alex Jones is best known for disputing the veracity of the 11 September attacks, the Sandy Hook school massacre and other events.
